AHAHAHAHAHAHA!! the stupid helmet with the beautiful background~
After awhile, we decided not to wear the stupid helmet because it's seriously look stupid! :D
http://geoterry.blogspot.com.au/2006/10/rottnest-island.html
we raced over to the bike hire and got a couple of bikes (and the ugly helmets)
http://victoriabrownpoet.blogspot.com.au/2010/03/rottnest-island-25-years-on.html
Here we are, a couple of old codgers out and about on bikes on Rottnest Island. Haven't been here since before we had kids 25 years ago and one thing that has changed is that we have to wear these ridiculous bike helmets.
Honestly!
http://sofiephilippe.blogspot.com.au/2012/03/rottnest-island.html
the bike helmet is not Sofia's favourite
fashion accessory: "do I really have to??"
http://bicycleperth.blogspot.com.au/2011/11/think-of-island.html
In this cycling paradise people have to wear a helmet by law. Madness.
http://abroad-fremantle.blogspot.com.au/2009/03/north-freo-beach-and-rottnest-island.html
Bikes are very popular (although we actually had to wear helmets because it is Australian federal law that all bikers must wear helmets), and almost everyone on the island is a tourist.
http://mitzid.blogspot.com.au/2009/05/rottnest-island.html
Me, ridding a bike, flying down a hill trying to get as much speed as possible so I can make it up the next one, with a crumbling bike helmet, a red face, ratted beach hair, a green cape flapping in the breeze.
So off I go with my crappy bike, a crumbling bike helmet, and a snorkel kit.
http://chloehuo.blogspot.com.au/2012/09/rottnest-island-perth.html
So unglam cos I was holding my camera pouch and helmet.
http://ragoosrecipe.blogspot.com.au/2007/12/ili-bila-dweepa-aka-rottnest-island.html
U may find it funny "wuts all with Helmet for cycles..!?!" but thats the safety norms that we have to follow here which is annoying.
http://cloudbaseimaging.blogspot.com.au/2008/09/australia-rottnest-island.html
I picked out the least-rusty Giant hybrid bike I could, we donned our mandatory rental helmets, and were off to find some snorkels.
http://daehlersdownunder.blogspot.com.au/2008/03/biking-around-rottnest-island-with.html
Biking around Rottnest Island with the mandatory rented biking helmets...
you can get a 50 Dollar fine for not wearing it..
http://rolandteo.blogspot.com.au/2009/01/rottnest-island.html
Yes, the helmet was the biggest size available.
And it hardly fits! =.=
http://muncity.blogspot.com.au/2010/08/cycling-round-island.html
Oh mind you. It is mandatory for cyclists to wear helmets in Western Australia, failing to do so can result in a fine.
http://0850503bridgingblog.blogspot.com.au/2008/11/rottnest-island.html
Rottnest is a small island, there are only a few cars and buses so it makes it safe for us to ride a bike. We can ride a bike where ever we want to go. We must wear a helmet.
http://danielleladd.blogspot.com.au/2009/03/our-bike-rentals-in-rottnest-island.html
Our bike rentals in Rottnest Island, Ladd laughed for a good five minutes when he saw me with my helmet, sunglasses and jean shorts.
http://rottobloggo.blogspot.com.au/2009/08/horse-over-water.html
Did these inhabitants of the beautiful island ever imagine they'd have to wear helmets?
http://charmingandcolliding.blogspot.com.au/2013/01/off-to-rotto.html
All the swimming gear, sunscreen and zinc paste (it comes in pink!) and bike helmets (in Australia you get a fine for riding a bike without a helmet) have been packed and we are so ready to go!
http://saraanddavidroundtheworld.blogspot.com.au/2011/01/rottnest-island.html
Is that really Mum wearing a cycle helmet?!! Yes, it's the law in Australia!
http://chocolatecake010.blogspot.com.au/2008/03/previously-on.html
I have to tell you that cars are not allowed on the island, whereas wearing crash helmets is compulsory (whenever you ride a bike...)
So let me introduce you Géraldine and Thomas: my two teammates on this ride, wearing proudly their helmet !

It's the Tour De Rottnest, don't you dig those helmets, very black, very chic. Brian and Kath get ready for the big ride.
http://brittanyinwanderlust.wordpress.com/2011/11/10/perth-rottnest-island/
Unlike the bikes we rented in Vietnam and Laos, these bikes actually had brakes and we wore bike helmets for the first time this trip.
Feeding the quokkas while wearing my super attractive bike helmet. Like the super attractive bike helmet!
http://gordito73.wordpress.com/2009/11/17/day-57-rottnest-island/
After collecting the bikes and trying to fit the helmets on our heads (especially mine) we bike straight to Dome to have lovely breakfast.

Rockin’ the helmets for our ride ’round Rottnest.
http://amberlygrant.wordpress.com/2012/06/06/working-out-while-traveling/
It was great to watch everyone riding (with their helmets) stopping from time to time to take in the scenery.
http://extraordinaryintheordinary.wordpress.com/2012/04/02/3-my-rotto/
I was disappointed to find out that wearing a helmet is a law in Australia. So enjoy the pictures because I definitely didn’t want to risk the $100 fine!
http://rxe564.wordpress.com/2009/11/01/wearing-thermals/
This is lovely when you are on a bike in an unprotected area but I pulled out my bright pink and yellow mac which complemented my bike helmet perfectly- I have never looked so good!

Five girls on one speed bikes with bells wearing taped up helmets and struggling to keep momentum going up hills.

Another racey helmet!
http://lyfe-dreams.blogspot.com.au/2007/11/atp-camp-rottnest-island.html
We arrive, and man, i left my helmet in my luggage, so me along wiht 3 other people had to walk our bikes around.
http://bonbiforest.blogspot.com.au/2011/05/29-project-days-339-350.html
Looking pretty cool here, yeah? Wearing my mandatory cycle helmet.
http://m00nie.blogspot.com.au/2007/12/gdye-from-perth-wa-part-2.html
Yes, I know I look stupid in that helmet. But in Australia, it is by law that you have to wear a helmet. Or else you'd be fined handsomely.
http://portner-lty.blogspot.com.au/2009/11/why-did-you-let-it-go.html
If you don't know how to wear a bicycle helmet, and want to know from a professional biker having mental problems, please refer to picture above.

It was an incrediblely hot day, BONUS!, with the sun as amazing as it is, as we set out to tour the island with our bike helmets on!
http://lifeofallan.blogspot.com.au/2009_11_01_archive.html
Public vehicles are not permitted on Rottnest so the transportation of choice is to bring a bike - or rent one in the largest bike shed of the southern hemisphere! Sometimes all that choice does not necessarily speed up the process of getting your gear and getting going, but after about 30 min of searching we had found the largest helmet of the southern hemisphere for dad and the bike with the fewest gears for Gemma :-D
http://lifefullness.blogspot.com.au/2010/03/day-3-rottnest-island-went-to-rottnest.html
and it's a must to wear helmet when you are cycling too, and i'm lazy to take it off, so... its going to be the first time (hopefully not the last) i wear a helmet to cycle!
http://www.davidddinoz.blogspot.com.au/2008/09/day-2-off-in-fremantle-perth.html (mentions Rottnest in nearby posts)
A disabled guy, Scott, in a wheelchair, stopped me to comment on my not wearing a helmet, and I listened to how he was hit by a car as a pedestrian and brain-damaged. He was concerned that the same might happen to me, and I had to agree he was probably right - I have worn a helmet religiously on this tour, but didn’t bother today for just a short while. I will probably wear one all the time back home in future now that I’m used to it.
http://andyandsam.blogspot.com.au/2007/12/rottnest.html
However, our search brought us to the Lucky Shag which was full of Sunday all-day drinkers and I disovered to my horror that on my way to the toilet, someone had vomited into my bike helmet. Unfortunately, although I'd done a rough clean-up of the situation, I still had to wear the helmet home!
http://butterflymemoirs.blogspot.com.au/2007/12/of-australian-beaches.html
We had to wear helmets while cycling. It's a shame coz can't feel the wind in our hair. But I think it's better that we wore it, coz the roads are so scary!!
http://notreallyaustralian.blogspot.com.au/2011/08/comedy-rosenrot-farm-visits-and-faun070.html
Saw that Faun070 is not wearing his bike helmet. He's very naughty.
http://weandjoeblow.blogspot.com.au/2011/02/perth.html
I may also have to mention that in Australia it is complusuary to wear helmets while riding bike. We were made to choose a quite filthy helmet, actually the strap which once had been white was a dark grey now, which I put on very reluctantly. A very important fact that I want to mention is, that I was able to wear an adult helmet!!! Only size S but it was NO childrens size.
http://oliogirl.blogspot.com.au/2007/11/perth.html
Helmets are the law for everyone; no surprise - I am choosing to seek forgiveness.
http://justamanontheroad.blogspot.com.au/2010/10/dirty-bed-birthday-and-island.html
Don't worry mom, safety was my first consideration so I kept my helmet on until we were safely lunching.

Not forgetting the ugly helmet
http://www.stefangoestoaustralia.blogspot.com.au/2007/07/jetlacs-are-annoying.html
As soon as I get my bike fixed (should be today) I can finally explore Brisbane by bike. I must buy a helmet, the australians are very strict about that..the woman in the bike shop asked me: "Mate, you wanna pay 75 $ for not wearing a helmet or 75 $ for buying one?" :-)
http://ggmilroy.blogspot.com.au/2009/04/rotto.html
we arrived, had breaky at the dome cafe and rented our bikes like professional tourists. and my my, did we ever look like nerds, helmets, backpacks and all.
http://peregrinationstoanywhereandback.blogspot.com.au/2011/03/dont-forget-bottle-of-water.html
What a beautiful helmet. Too bad you can't see that my hair reached level 2-3 on the Jackson Five scale.
http://alysoninaustralia.blogspot.com.au/2011/02/week-one.html
Just some super cool friends in some super cool helmets during our 10 hour bike ride. Don't worry, no one was hunger over...
http://wwwaussieblogcom.blogspot.com.au/2009/12/sunday-december-6-we-went-out-and.html
We went out and bought bicycle helmets yesterday, since it is the law here. Well, not that everyone buy helmets, just that you wear them if you want to ride your bike.
http://usinperth.blogspot.com.au/2008/03/my-first-bike-ride.html
I hated my helmet at first and screamed when it went on, but I'm ok with it now. Here is me after my first ever bike ride with daddy!!!
http://bryan-cheryl.blogspot.com.au/2009/04/wild-wild-west-adventures-in-western.html
I resembled Mary Poppins with my dress and satchel on the front of my bike and Bryan was like an advert for safety wear (the helmet)!
http://happypixie.blogspot.com.au/2007/03/rottnest-island-perth.html
I managed to test out my helmet (it does work) and end up with scrapes down the left half of my body attempting, I'm sure, a very difficult manoeuvre on the bicycle (don't ask me about it)...
http://kayleycoogan.blogspot.com.au/2010/03/longest-week-yet.html
Yes, it was pretty cloudy that day, but i definitely recieved some great tan lines from my helmet straps and my lovely tank top.
